Develops protection system settings, engineering calculations and design documents associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company's transmission and distribution, facilities/systems. Supports the construction and commissioning of protection systems deployed on company transmission and distribution facilities. Responsibilities--- Develop Protection system schematic designs
--- Conduct Short circuit and symmetrical component analysis
--- Perform protection system coordination studies
--- Relay settings and protection system automation logic development
--- Conduct arc flash analysis
--- Manage Integration with SCADA systems
--- Comply with NERC, FERC and WECC regulations
--- Develop moderately complex electrical engineering studies.
--- Guide and direct level I engineers, technicians and drafters.
--- Deliver on commitments to accomplish assigned work.
--- Analyze and design engineering methods.Requirements--- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited university
--- A minimum of two years directly applicable engineering experience.
--- Knowledge and application of engineering principles in the area of substations design, power system protection and/or power system analysis.
--- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
--- Understanding of Company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
--- Knowledge of applicable FERC, NERC and WECC standards and the National Electric Codes.
--- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
--- Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.
--- Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
--- Occasional travel for project work and trainingPreferences--- Engineering experience specific to industrial power systems or electric utility power systems.
--- Engineer In Training certificate (EIT)
--- Familiarity with substation design
